DESCRIPTION:Take your running shoes into the wild and race against antelope\, zebra and giraffe. Make a trip of it and spend a few days out in the wild enjoying beautiful landscapes\, game drives and the relaxing effect of nature. The Big Five Marathon takes place in June every year and gives adventure-seeking runners the opportunity to do all these things. The venue is the Entabeni Game Reserve in South Africa’s Northern Limpopo Province\, close to Botswana. \nAbsolutely remarkable race. I LOVED the honey guide camp\, which happened to be the only thing available when I booked my trip. Thank goodness! Because from what I hear it’s the best camp and all the rangers are AMAZING! I want to come back and run those 42k all over again just as an excuse to see them all over again! Incredible game drives\, SUCH good food (even as a vegan!!!!) I can’t recommend this place and this race enough!\n– Megan Rivard \nThe marathon features a classic 42.195km marathon and a half marathon. \nHere’s what the organisers say about the ethos of their events; “Here at Albatros Adventure Marathons we’re all about taking running to another level. DESCRIPTION:This festival has so much oomph that it has a recognised effect on Swaziland’s tourism economy. It’s one of our all-time favourite festivals at African Drift. \nMTN Bushfire was just in January listed as one of the top 300 festivals IN THE WORLD by Everfest. Last year it won the award for Best Responsible Event at the African Responsible Tourism Awards. SUMMARY:South Africa: Two Oceans Marathon 2018
DESCRIPTION:The 49th edition of the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon takes place on Easter Saturday\, March 32\, 2018. Known as\nthe world’s most beautiful marathon the 56km Ultra Marathon has taken place every year since 1970. \nIt takes runners around the beautiful Cape Peninsula where they can experience lactic acid build-up in their muscles while they take in breathtaking views of mountains\, valleys\, oceans and beaches.  \nThe Half Marathon sees some 16 000 participants (making it the biggest half marathon in South Africa)\, while 11 000 athletes tackle the 56km Ultra Marathon. \nIn addition to the main events\, other events take place the day before (Good Friday). Approximately 6 000 runners – including toddlers and young children with their families – take part in various fun runs. Approximately 1 000 trail runners traverse the trails of the Table Mountain National Park. International participants get to run a scenic 5km route along the Sea Point promenade as part of the International Friendship Run.
